What the Hell is Wrong with NFL Fans?

Maybe I'm growing more aware of people's perceptions and ideas as I become more connected to everyone through social networking and the Internet. Or, maybe as a whole people have just become more and more idiotic.

This entire NFL season has been driving me crazier and crazier as each week passes. Full disclosure here, I am a Chicago Bears fan. Now, my intent of this post IS NOT for it to become a "my team is better than your team" issue. Anyone that begins to make it such an issue is either a meathead or a moron or both.

All season long I have heard from national media, local media (both here in Minnesota and back in Chicago), and anyone who had a few seconds to give me their two cents that Jay Cutler was sure one big ass-hat. I have heard that he's a baby, a jerk, a whiner, and even by some over the top people that Cutler is possibly the anti-Christ. All of this came to a head with Rick Riley's complete rip-job on Cutler this last week over on ESPN.

Now, should Cutler be a little more friendly to the media? Sure. Should he try to be a better more emotional on-field leader to his teammates? All the successful ex-player/current-analysts seem to think so. But is he someone that deserves all this hate? Or are there other players out there that maybe people should focus their disdain for?

While everyone is busy dragging Cutler through the mud because God saw it fit to give Tom Brady Jay's share of that winning smile, gracious attitude, and flowing golden hair there are people prospering in the league without much, if any, hatred.

Jay Cutler is a grumpy person. Michael Vick trained dogs to kill one another and if they weren't good enough he shot them. Now Vick has gotten some heat this year from a few outliers but for the most part he is viewed as a great success story. Sure he had a great season and the things he did on the football field were spectacular, but how do the majority of people I interact with both online and in person hate Cutler more?

Jay Cutler fails to make eye contact with people talking to him most of the time. Ray Lewis was involved in, and most likely committed a COLD BLOODED DOUBLE MURDER by stabbing two people in 2000!!! Ten years later and Lewis is considered a model NFL citizen because he gives a good interview and signs autographs. If you call Cutler an asshole to his face he'll most likely smirk at you in an "I'm better than you" fashion but at least you're not in danger of BEING STABBED TO DEATH!!!

Ben Roethlisberger is a rapist.

Donte Stallworth got too liquored up, ignored the FREE program the NFL has for its players to get a safe sober ride home anywhere in the USA at any time of the night, then hit and KILLED a father of a 15 year old girl with his $200,000 Bently.

Stallworth and Vick have both since been awarded their team's Ed Block Courage Award by their teams. I'm assuming its because they had the "courage" to show their faces and pretend nothing was wrong.

I'm a firm believer that everyone deserves a second chance and if these guys have truly turned their life around from all the bullshit they have done then that's a great thing. My point here is that maybe everyone needs to get over the fact that Jay Cutler may not be the nice friendly guy you picture your All-American quarterback to be. However, lets not lose sight of the truly bad people in the NFL and when thinking about which players deserve your praise and which deserve your scorn, don't forget there are truly despicable men playing this sport and Jay Cutler is not one of them.

Oh, and this was just pointed out to me from ProFootballTalk.com

Well...now we have a decision to make

It seems that our tongue in cheek name for our little blog is causing us a few issues in the social networking world.  While I very much like the name of our blog, and I feel it perfectly expresses the premise behind the site, I am left with the following need:

We need a name that exemplifies the work we have started, something a little more subtle perhaps, something that makes sense, and yet doesn't water down our message.  Also, we will be introducing a new feature to the blog.  I think you will like it.  I feel everyone likes to feel "part" of something, and being as that was one of my main reasons for starting this in the first place, I think this is an area that we can expand on!

So stay tuned, I would love any feedback you may provide!!

We're Evolving

Hello. How bout that ride in? I guess that’s why they call it Sin City… ha ha ha. You guys might not know this, but I consider myself a bit of a loner. I tend to think of myself as a one man wolf pack. Though when my sister brought Doug home I knew he was one of my own. And my wolf pack, it grew by one. So where there two of, there was two of us in the wolf pack.. I was alone first in the pack and then doug joined in later. And six months ago when Doug introduced me to you guys, I thought, “Wait a second could it be?”. And now I know for sure.. I just added two more guys to my wolf pack. Four of us wolves, running around the desert together in Las Vegas; looking for strippers and cocaine. So tonight, I make a toast!

And just like that, We have added 2 more to the wolf pack. Could it be? Could it be that we may add yet another.....we will just have to see I guess!

Welcome Mick!

It's OK When I Do It

Hello Internet.

Being that this is my first post on this blog (or any other blog for that matter), I think it best that I explain a bit about myself and my thought process. If you think what I say makes sense, that's great. If you don't; even better.

First of all, my bullshit/hypocrite-o-meter is extremely sharp and I will instantly call anyone on anything that even gives the needle a slight bump. This is not to say that I don't offer the world a lot of my own bullshit or hypocritical things. But, as the title states, "It's OK When I Do It."

Take Google, for example. For at least the first 3 years it was in existence (at least that I knew of it) I refused to utilize the popular search engine. Did I like Metacrawler or whatever crap ass alternatives I had available to me at the time better? No. It just drove me insane that Google was used so often as a verb. Seriously, when else has the name of a company became a verb for the function of that company's product? (If anyone says Xerox I'm going to go crazy cause that's the same damn thing. It's called making a copy you ass-hat.) Never before Google did anyone say, "I don't know what the Guinness Record for most douche bags in one room is, I'll 'Metacrawler' it!" I held this notion for quite some time until I decided to actually try using Google one time while writing a paper in college. Holy shit, I realized that site is about 1000 times better than Yahoo! or any of the other crap I was trying to use. Therefore it's now fine for me and people around me to use Google. If you try to use it as a verb, however, I still find myself fighting a primal urge to gouge your eyes out.

The next example is something that is totally acceptable for me to do and completely unacceptable for anyone else to do unless they're with me.

When you do it, it's called being a Lane Weasel. When I do it, it's called being a smart driver. You know what I'm talking about. When a lane on the highway is closing and there are signs urging everyone to merge, I'm the guy who smartly stays in that lane until the last possible second and smoothly squeezes into the next lane. However, if I happen to be in the existing lane and the lane next to me is closing and some asshole thinks he can cut me off, NO WAY. I'm going to do everything I can to keep that Lane Weasel from cheating the honor code of politely merging. There is a difference between the two examples above and if you dont see it you haven't been paying attention. See where this is going? It's OK when I do it.

Welcome Sugs!

I have added a new contributor to the page.  I have known Sugs for well over ten years, and I think everyone will appreciate his twisted insight to the bullshit that happens around all of us! You can find his first post directly below!

Enjoy!

What's the world coming to?!?

Seriously... didn't a tragic and horrible event take place in Tucson, Arizona on Saturday?

Granted, I could have been hallucinating (I have been known to take peyote, wash it down with gallons of "Incredible Hulks" and listen to Strawberry Alarm Clock and the Crazy World of Arthur Brown... on repeat), but I seem to recall some gun-wielding-nut job crashing a town hall-style meeting in front of a shopping center. When all was said and done, 6 people (including a Federal judge and a 9 year old girl) lost their lives and 14 others were injured. Sound familiar? I assume that, unless you live on a glacier, you know what I'm talking about.

Now that I've set the scene for you, take a look below at what I saw when I went to my Internet homepage this evening:

http://news.yahoo.com/nphotos/Ark-Eco-Building-Future/ss/events/sc/011011theark#photoViewer=/ydownload/20110110/photos_net_web_sc/1294694210

Now before you jump down my throat, I understand how things work. I know every story gets their five minutes of fame here, while thumbnails of previous stories are shown below. But a "Slinky-like 'Ark'" house? Really?!? Since when did shitty science fiction become more newsworthy than what happened in Tucson? Prepare to be delighted with a few verses from the slide show that accompanied this link:

"The foil is recyclable, self-cleaning, lighter, more durable and more economic than glass."

"...can be built to float on water, and can withstand rising tides and floods of biblical proportion."

"...can also be constructed in earthquake zones."

"The basement can store wind, thermal, and solar energy for up to six months, which can then turn into electricity."

So let me get this straight... the structure is God-proof? For those unfamiliar with one of the world's three major religions, God CREATED the world and then sent a flood to "shake the Etch-a-Sketch". Do you really think your buoyant, self-cleaning habitrail can compete with that? Ever seen Star Wars? The Death Star was destroyed by Luke piloting an X-wing with his targeting computer TURNED OFF! Do me a favor, don't tempt fate that way; I'd like to get married and start a family some day.

Why is this news?!? Is there even such a thing as "self-cleaning foil"? If it's anything like "self-cleaning" ovens, I'll pass. After all, I've seen self-cleaning ovens defeated by baked on spills from tater tot hotdish. I'll consider allowing you to make an announcement when you've got a working prototype but until then, back to the drawing board.

It's a shame we can't give events like what happened this past Saturday the time and respect they deserve. The engraving isn't even finished on the tombstones and we've already moved on to solving over-population by modeling shelters after toys created during World War II. Come on folks, it *is* too soon for "news" like this...

On a more positive note... it's nice to see Malcolm-Jamal Warner trending. I'm a huge Cosby Show fan.

People are hypocrites

Seriously, why are people wasting their time with this? Does no one see the hypocrisy in this sterger vs favre deal? I get the whole, "people shouldn't send pictures of their cranks to people you work with" deal. I understand everyones right to a safe workplace... but c'mon now! She decided almost two years later that she was "offended" by the actions of Favre, that a picture of a dink was sexual harassment.. this, from a woman whos only claim to fame, whos career, is based soley on her big, fake tits and her spreads in Playboy, and Maxim. All she had to do, was turn him in the moment this STARTED! Dont waste my time with the whole "she was afraid", "she thought she would lose her job" bullshit. Its 2010... the media loves this sort of thing, and the NFL doesnt seem to like this sort of publicity. Instead, like the manipulative, opportunist, she is. She was all fine with it, and kept these messages like an obsessed ex girlfriend hoping to hurt him at some point. No guy sends pictures of his cock to a coworker, unless they have a relationship that is already mutually inappropriate. Like my girlfriend said to me, "crazy girls will keep momentos from dudes they arent with as a way to either keep them close or blackmail them, while a guy will delete that shit as he doesnt care or doesnt want the evidence".

Like i said... if you run around with your shit hanging out as a means to support your lifestyle...dont cry wolf when a random body part is flashed back at you.
